This book is the second in a series of at least three novellas that continue the story of Katherine and Philippe who we met and loved in the Love of Provence trilogy. They now live in the south of France and have taken on the daunting task of maintaining a beautiful bed and breakfast surrounded by violets that is appropriately called the Villa des Violettes. In this springtime story, the bed and breakfast is finally ready to open. And now we start to meet the various patrons as we follow along with our favorite couple and their dogs' and cats' antics. I love following up with these two. Each novella deals with a different adventure, but the characters remain the same ones you met way back in the beginning. At this point, all of those characters have become old friends, and I really enjoy catching up with their lives. I definitely recommend reading the trilogy first to become familiar with the various characters, then read the Villa des Violettes novellas in order too if you can in order to avoid spoilers in the later books. Patricia Sands will take you on a journey through the parts of France she knows best, and you will learn about this gorgeous area and various French traditions while you enjoy a suspenseful tale that adds in lots of love and friendship.
